More Honors: ‘Honest, Unapologetic, Fun’
More Honors is the place for all those creative heads, who are not afraid to state their opinion and enjoy some quality fun and self-irony. Here you will make life-long friendships with people, who will help you grow as an artist. Read our interview with the club’s Presidents, Emma Kerencheva and Marieta Milusheva, who tell us more about their activities.
How would you describe your club in 3 words?
Honest, unapologetic, fun; take a joke
What is your club about?
More Honors reflects the reality of the student life at AUBG in a fun, light-hearted way. In its essence, the club is an independent media on campus, with a main goal to mock the unmockable, and celebrate the AUBG community. We are the people you see on campus carrying large cameras, always filming something around your nearest Skapto.
One of the best things about More Honors is just how close-knit of a community we are, and that oftentimes leads to generating great ideas while also having fun.
What kind of people are you looking for in your club?
We are looking for people who are not afraid to voice their opinions, people who express themselves creatively (irrespective of the creative outlet they choose), and are always up for a challenge. If you’re interested in all things related to video production, visual art and design, acting & scriptwriting, or if you just have some fun and creative ways of presenting our community, More Honors is your place.
What kind of events do you organize?
More Honors organizes an annual award ceremony in April that celebrates the uniqueness of student life. The whole student body gets to participate by nominating other students and staff members for 10 different categories. The club works on the production of 10 videos for each category, as well as the creation of a stage show. On the day of the ceremony, students, professors, and alumni get to enjoy the stage show, the videos and of course, see who the winners are.
What is the meaning behind your club’s name?
The club name is, of course, a play on words, which pretty much summarizes our main goal: to mix the serious parts of academic life with some more light-hearted fun.
The name also suggests one of the most important qualities that our members should have-the sense of self-irony (not everyone would like to proudly call themselves “morons”).
How has being part of this club enhanced your AUBG experience?
Marieta: It is wonderful and also humbling to be a part of the club with some of the most talented and creative people in the university. It is amazing to be a tiny part of the history of More Honors, which has provided the AUBG community with some (debatable) quality entertainment for 24 years now. If it wasn’t for MH, I wouldn’t have actively worked on improving my video editing and shooting skills, which will definitely prove useful in the future. Most importantly though, I met some of the most interesting and inspiring people, who make working a pleasure for me.
Emma: More Honors gives all members the amazing opportunity to be part of something that has been bringing people together since 1996. Being part of this club has given me the chance to work creatively and learn from and with talented, open-minded and unique people. More Honors has made my AUBG experience more meaningful because it gave me a sense of belonging.
