Model United Nations (MUN): ‘Political, Open and Ambitious’
If you are interested in discussing topics of universal importance, AUBG Model United Nations is the place for you. Here you will take part in a simulation of the UN General Assembly session and gain invaluable professional experience. Read our interview with the President of the club, Nina Kutubidze, and learn more about what they do.
How would you describe your club in 3 words?
Political, open and ambitious.
What is your club about?
Working together to prepare for the annual AUBGMUN conference, which is a simulation of a session of the UN General Assembly or the Security Council, while at the same time gaining real and useful experience for your future job. The conference creates a bridge between communities and cultures.
What kind of people are you looking for in your club?
People with globalistic views that are looking to solve universal questions. Having a sense of responsibility is essential.
What kind of events do you organize?
AUBGMUN conferences, model UN conferences in collaboration with other universities, giveaways, quizzes, news and social media updates on what the UN bodies post, roundtables about hot topics. This fall semester we had a roundtable about Plant Health, global warming and UN's role in sustainability.
How has being part of this club enhanced your AUBG experience?
One of the most important things that I've learned in this club is teamwork: how to effectively work with team members and managers of various degrees of expertise, experience, and competence while at the same time retain the cohesion and effectiveness of a small team. Not only that, I'm lucky to be in a position in which I can experience what it's like to work both as a team member and a coordinator, something which I think not many can have during college.
