Investment Management Club: ‘Nimble, Enthusiastic, Challenging'
The Investment Management CLub (IMC) is the place for people passionate about finance and economics. There, you will challenge yourself, expand your potential and discover people who share the same interests as you. Read our interview with the President of Investment Management Club (IMC), Stanislav Stankov, and learn more about their activities.
How would you describe your club in 3 words?
Nimble, Enthusiastic, Challenging
What is your club about?
We are a small group of people with strong passion for finance and economics. Together, we aim to create a strong, tight-knit community of future investment managers, financial experts, and portfolio managers.
What kind of people are you looking for in your club?
Every AUBG student with apparent enthusiasm about finance is welcome in our club!
What kind of events do you organize?
The Investment Management Club provides educational events, including career panels, global career treks, valuation training challenges and hopefully IM job opportunities. We try to introduce our members to industry professionals from leading financial institutions such as McKinsey and Company and Raiffeisen Bank to share their wisdom and experience and enhance our members’ investment skills.
What is the meaning behind your club’s name?
Not so long ago, our name was Asset Trading & Management club (AT&M) which sounded exactly like ATM (the machine) and we decided to give ourselves a new and hopefully more recognizable and respected name. That is why our previous president Martin Iliev came up with the Investment Management Club name, which we all agreed sounds a lot better. Unfortunately, we do not manage any financial instruments as of now, but hopefully this will change in future.
How has being part of this club enhanced your AUBG experience?
When I joined IMC, I was a sophomore, majoring in economics and computer science, and I didn’t really know much about finance. At the begging I was a little nervous, thinking that perhaps that’s not my place, but after the very first club meeting with the members I was greeted by very smart and incredibly friendly people, some of which I have to say are my best friends on the campus! Not only that, but thanks to some of these people I was able to secure an internship in one of the leading prop-trading firms in the country. In conclusion, joining the IM Club was one of my best decisions I have ever made since I was accepted in AUBG.
