Interim President Dr. David Evans Announces Plans for Spring 2021
In a message to the AUBG students, Interim President Dr. David Evans announced the plans for the Spring ’21 semester. The university administration has prepared two scenarios for next semester - one in case AUBG proceeds with the hybrid model, and one in case the university has to switch entirely to online education.
Because of the unpredictability of the situation with COVID-19, it is early to know with certainty which of the scenarios will come true, and that will depend on the developments in Bulgaria and Blagoevgrad as well. The plans for now are that AUBG continues with the hybrid model, and if that is the case, all policies and procedures will remain as they are now.
"I would like to thank you all for being responsible and following the health and safety measures on campus," Evans said. "The trend is that cases in Bulgaria are increasing and we have to stay alert and attentive so that we will be able to enjoy the spring semester on campus as well. Despite the changes and restrictions we had to implement this fall, the AUBG spirit stays strong as ever. It makes me proud to see how dedicated and passionate you are to your studies and club activities despite the difficulties posed by the pandemic. I hope to see even more of you back in Blagoevgrad next semester."
Regarding prepregistration for Spring '21, students should have in mind that preregistration will proceed on the assumption that spring will follow the “hybrid calendar.” In the period Nov. 16-20 (the week before preregistration), students will have to indicate whether they want to study online, to live on campus, or live off-campus. For students who do not specify their preference, the assumption will be that they want to study on-ground and live on campus. Students will receive an e-mail announcement with a link to an online form early November. All decisions will become final at 5 pm on Friday, 20 November.
