AUBG Mourns the Loss of Great Friend and Supporter David T. Flanagan
The AUBG community was saddened by the news of the passing of AUBG dear friend and former Chair of the Board David T. Flanagan on Oct. 14. A natural leader and a dedicated citizen of Maine, Mr. Flanagan continued to work even during the advanced stages of his illness.
"We at AUBG will remember him precisely as that – a person with exceptional business skills who is wholly devoted to making the life of people and communities better through tackling issues as diverse as education, energy delivery, government and NGO policies," said AUBG President Dr. David Evans in an email to the AUBG community.
AUBG was fortunate to have Mr. Flanagan lead the University as a Chair of the AUBG Board (2003-2008) and sit on the AUBG Board of Trustees from 1995 till 2011. During his many years of service, he was also a Chair of the Audit Committee to the Board and a University Council Member (2011-2021). "His visionary leadership, honest approach and hands-on problem-solving skills made him an invaluable source of support for the university," Evans said. "David was also a generous benefactor who made substantial donations for student scholarships and unrestricted funds." For his distinguished service and many contributions to our community, AUBG awarded Mr. Flanagan the Dimi and Yvonne Panitza Visionary Award in 2021 and the Distinguished Service Award in 2011.
