AUBG Hosts Annual AAICU Meeting 2019
AUBG hosted this year’s meeting of the Association of American International Colleges and Universities (AAICU). A consortium of 28 independent, non-profit, higher education institutions located outside the United States and based on the American liberal arts model, AAICU serves as a platform for the sharing of best practices in international higher education. Presidents and provosts coming from universities in Europe, Asia and Africa gathered together on AUBG campus April 12.
AUBG President Steven Sullivan and AUBG Provost Emilia Zankina welcomed the guests at Andrey Delchev Auditorium. “We are very excited about hosting the AAICU annual meeting at AUBG,” said Sullivan. “It is a wonderful opportunity to work together, share ideas and best practices and exchange intercultural perspectives.”
During the meeting, the president offered an overview of AUBG’s work in the past two years. The day-long meeting’s agenda also included a tour of the university, a plenary session on the topic of freedom of speech on campus, and a presentation by the student organizations at AUBG.
The members of AAICU spent the weekend in meetings and discussions at AUBG’s Elieff Center for Education and Culture in Sofia.
