AUBG Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary at a Gala Evening

A formal Gala Evening celebrated AUBG's 30th Anniversary at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia May 19. Among the official guests were the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia Karen Donfried and the U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria HE Hero Mustafa, as well as professors, students and alumni, high school graduates, members of the public, and business representatives.  

The evening program began with the official opening of the newly established Center for Information, Democracy and Citizenship (CIDC), which aims to support democratic development and civic society in Bulgaria and the region of Southeast Europe with a series of programs. President David Evans, AUBG Professor Robert Phillips and the Center's newly appointed director, Tihomira Doncheva, all spoke at the event.
