AUBG Awarded at 2020 Best Universities Ceremony
The American University in Bulgaria was honored at daily newspaper 24 Chasa's annual award ceremony for Bulgaria's best universities. The paper celebrated the top schools in the country as defined by the Bulgarian University Rankings.
"I would like to say thank you on behalf of the entire university for this honor," said Interim President Dr. David Evans. "We work very hard to offer the best quality education and are very proud with our students."
He added that AUBG is looking forward to collaborating with other higher education institutions in Bulgaria and to making a positive impact on society. Evans received the award from Kaolin executive director Radomir Cholakov.
AUBG scored leading positions in all five evaluated disciplines. The Business Administration, European Studies, Journalism and Mass Communications, and Political Science and International Relations programs earned the number one spot in the country. Computer Science, Economics and Information Systems ranked second overall, according to the Ministry of Education ratings. AUBG is also number one in all five disciplines in terms of prestige and welfare and administrative services.
Minister of Education Krasimir Valchev opened the ceremony at Sofia's Oborishte 5 gallery. He talked about the importance the ranking system has had in shaping the ministry's policies and about the challenges the higher education system is facing globally.
"The fundamental changes will be in the way we learn," he said. "Education will no longer be a ticket to a single profession, but we will need to upgrade our skills and knowledge throughout our entire lives."
