AUBG Marks 30 Years Since Its Founding
Today marks 30 years since the founding of the American University in Bulgaria. On this very day, June 24, 1991, AUBG opened doors for its first students. From an idea born in the dawn of newly democratic Bulgaria to one of the top higher education institutions in the region, the university has accomplished a lot in these past three decades.
"This anniversary is the perfect moment to not only praise the achievements of the past, but also look to the future," AUBG President Dr. David Evans said in a message to the AUBG community. The upcoming celebrations will fall under the slogan “Onwards and Upwards,” a phrase often used by AUBG founder Dimi Panitza.
And speaking of celebrations, AUBG is planning a lot of those in the upcoming year, starting with several online events in the end of June. The university will then open an exhibition in Sofia and Blagoevgrad showcasing the best of AUBG. There will be a day-long festival for the university and town community. Alumni will return to campus for the long-awaited Mega Reunion. Faculty from across the world will gather at AUBG for an academic conference. And so much more.
You can find the entire program for AUBG's 30th anniversary on the official celebration page.
