AUBG Awarded Two Three-Year Erasmus Plus Grants
The American University in Bulgaria has been awarded two three-year grants under the Erasmus plus program for a Jean Monnet Module on EU Diplomacy: Instruments and Policies and a Jean Monnet Module on Social policy and Politics in the EU. AUBG was the only academic institution in Bulgaria to be awarded such grants. Out of the 1,315 applications submitted, 251 have been selected for EU funding under this action.
The activities of the first Module include the teaching of a three-credit (6ECTS Cr.) course on EU Diplomacy: Policies and Instruments and a one-credit (2 ECTS Cr.) course preparing the students for an EU simulation to be held every year in spring during the duration of the project as well as guest lectures by renowned analysts and practitioners in the field of EU diplomacy. The Module also comprises a research project on EU Diplomacy and the Eastern Partnership. The Module is coordinated by Associate Professor Jean Crombois. The activities of the second Module include the delivery of a three-credit teaching course (6ECTS Cr.) on EU initiatives in the area of social policy and political debates. It also involves an annual debate on a selected theme featuring in a given year’s European Semester report on Bulgaria. The debate takes place in Sofia and brings together a policy officer from the European Commission representation in Bulgaria, an expert or practitioners in the field of EU social policy; Bulgarian civil society representatives; AUBG students and students from other Bulgarian universities. Also, the Module comprises a research agenda on EU-level activism of CEE social partner organizations and their reactions to regulatory changes at EU level.
