AUBG Awarded at 2021 Best Universities Ceremony
The Best Universities Ceremony, which happened online this year, recognized AUBG for its success at the Bulgarian University Rankings 2020. The event, organized by the "24 Hours" newspaper, gathers together representatives from the top schools in Bulgaria, government officials and business professionals.
“I am grateful to the Ministry of Education for developing this online ranking which is a very useful tool,” said AUBG President David Evans. “This of course has been a difficult year for all of us but our student community and faculty and staff have risen to the occasion and retained the strong sense of mission that the university has, which has helped us to support such excellent graduates over our 30-year history.”
President Evans received the award from Andrea Tognetti, Head of HR at UniCredit Bulbank. “For us at UniCredit Bulbank as one of the leading employers in the country, the quality of education has always been a top priority,” he said. “One of the things that have always impressed us is the spirit of the graduates of the American University in Bulgaria. Allow me to congratulate you for the high quality education but also for the enterprising spirit and focus on innovation of your students.”
Minister of Education Krasimir Valchev opened the ceremony and spoke about the newly adopted Strategy for Higher Education in Bulgaria. The strategy focuses on the development of more scientific research initiatives in the country, as well as on the opportunities for collaboration among different universities and the career success of the graduates.
“We look forward to work with our colleagues from the other universities in Bulgaria as we all implement the new Strategy for Higher Education in the country,” Evans said. "We are pleased that it recognizes the contemporary needs for the workforce. I am also looking forward to collaborate with the business to help identify and support their needs.”
Once again, all five evaluated disciplines at AUBG hold leading positions in the Bulgarian University Rankings. Business Administration is ranked number one in the country and Journalism and Mass Communication shares first place with Sofia University. Politics & International Relations and European Studies, Computer Science & Information Systems and Economics take second place.
